May 3, 2019(1 event) All day Seoul Foreign School is pleased to announce, in cooperation with Out of the Blocks and Inspire Citizens, the inaugural SFS Global Youth Media Conference on May 3 and 4, 2019. This conference, for students grades 7-10, is perfect for a team of students and teachers who are interested in journalism, story telling, sound and video recording, movie making, editing, and more. Check out the complete 2-day schedule HERE. Last year SFS took a team of 7th graders and teachers to a similar conference in Beijing and with the skills and knowledge they brought back, things quickly took off at our school. This led to authentic learning with the "Into the Gu" project, the Middle School Voice Lab Club/MYP Design Project (voicelab.seoulforeign.org), and middle school students working directly with our marketing team. Even if you only bring a team of four students and a teacher, it will be worth it for your school and students! For more information on workshops from last year and the philosophy behind the event, check out the following links: Inspire Citizens: Community Media for Change Workshops & Community Media for Change Also be sure to check out the Seoul Foreign Middle School Voice Lab site as it gets continually updated with projects from students throughout the school year. To get the most out of the conference, we recommend students and schools bring their own equipment. If you do not have your own equipment, please contact matthew.johnson@seoulforeign.org and we can loan you some of our SFS equipment on site. The ideal Media Kit would include, for every 2-4 students: camera with a mic, video capabilities, tripod, batteries, SD cards, and audio equipment with microphones as a bonus. All participants are expected to bring their own smartphone and computer. Please register your team HERE. Once you are registered, you will be sent a confirmation email and invoice with payment options. Your places cannot be guaranteed until payment is received. Conference Costs: Early bird (by April 3rd): $100 per student Normal: $130 per student Group Discount: $15 per student for groups of more than 5 from one school. The fee includes entrance to both days of the conference, use of recording equipment, snacks and lunch on both days. Spaces are limited, so get your team together quickly!
