KORCOS Grants

KORCOS provides 4 grants to eligible full member institutions and their individual members.

KORCOS Grants are provided to KORCOS members to increase the quality of instruction and learning programs offered by member schools, and to enable teachers to meet established professional growth goals. KORCOS makes funds available for these grants through the KORCOS Executive Board and the KORCOS Grant Committee otherwise known as the KORCOS Grants Governing Trustees (KGGT). KORCOS encourages all potential teacher applicants from KORCOS member schools to select professional development opportunities and conferences that ensure that those chosen to receive a KORCOS grant will benefit the majority of KORCOS member institutions.

See KORCOS Grant’s rubric for descriptions of the various categories of grants: Professional Development Grant, Educational Research Grant, Travel Grant, and Member-School Hosting Grant.

KORCOS Grant applications can be submitted throughout the year; the deadline is two months before the event is scheduled. Note: that not all grants may be available per academic year. Please submit your proposal two months prior to the proposed activity. Approved grant applicants will be notified by one of the KORCOS executive team members as soon as possible.

  2. KORCOS must be notified promptly of any change in the status of an application resulting from acceptance of another award.
  3. Proposals and outcomes reveal a benefit to a majority of KORCOS member institutions.
  4. Monies are payable to grant proponents as proposals have been duly approved, and an itemized report of expenses must be submitted to the KORCOS grants governing bodies.
  5. The release of funds may be staggered as reimbursement requests are submitted along with a brief progress report.

APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY

Determining whether you are eligible to apply for and receive a KORCOS grant is very important. If you are not eligible for a specific funding opportunity, you would waste a lot of time completing the application process when you cannot actually receive the grant.

Before beginning the application process, you should make sure you or your institution is eligible to apply for the grant. There are several keys to eligibility:

  1. Does the KORCOS grant proposal and projected outcomes reveal a benefit to the majority of KORCOS member institutions?
  2. Is the KORCOS grant proposal directly related to the vision, mission, and goals of your academic institution?
  3. Is the KORCOS grant proposal directly related to your field or general practice?
  4. Have you been asked to develop skills in the area addressed in the KORCOS Grant proposal?
  5. Is the KORCOS grant proposal related to the academic program desired to implement or improve among KORCOS member schools?
  6. Does the KORCOS grant proposal fit within your professional development plan that coincides with the goals of your academic institution?
  7. Are you or your institution a full member for the current academic year. (Check your institute’s status here)
  8. Does your school plan on renewing its KORCOS full membership the following year?
  9. Has your institution been regular in its payment of KORCOS membership dues?

If you answered yes to the majority of these questions, you are most likely eligible for a KORCOS grant!
